I was working as an APO for over a year under a company in Singapore.
When I started working, almost everyone threw these two questions at me ..
1. Why become an APO?
2. Why work in Singapore?
My answer would be, because of the exchange rate.
Hello? The exchange rate at that time was 3.0 therefore I would be earning so much more when I convert it to MYR.

What do I do?
Out of the 4 divisions they have, I was posted at Changi Aiport. Basically, I take care of the security of the airport.
It is a 12hour job which can come up to 14hours with overtime, it used to be 15hours. Technically, I am glued to my job and Changi Airport is my second home.
My shift is from 0600hours to 1800hours, Travelling takes up to 1hour/way. So if I were to do overtime today, I wake up at 0400hours, transport is at 0450hours, work 12hours plus 2hours overtime (1800-2000hours) and reach home at 2100hours. This leaves me with 7 hours at home or 7 hours of life which is lifeless because I'll be dead tired and exhausted.

Advantages of my job.
I work at the airport therefore I get staff discount almost everywhere I eat at. Duty Free? I do get a staff discount but I pay GST because I do not have a boarding pass, BUT when I'm travelling and I use both my boarding pass and staff pass, I get a total of 10% off duty free items. Also, air conditioning is a plus point.

Reason I quit my job.
Long working hours, I rarely have "me" time. It's always a cycle of, wakeup > work > home > sleep. Less off days, I work a "5 1" shift which is work 5 days, rest 1 day. So in order to take a cycle off, I would have to apply 5 days of Annual Leaves and we only have 8/year.
Main reason, halfway into my one year bond I applied for other jobs in Singapore and managed to obtain a job with a better pay.
